Wizards of Waverly Place is one of the hottest shows on the Disney Channel right now, and I am sure that there are plenty of kids out there who would love to have a themed party. Birthday parties can be incredibly expensive, but you can throw your own WOWP party for much less than those pizza places or other "entertainment zones."
Here are some tips:
- Get music associated with the show. This would include the soundtrack to the "Wizards of Waverly Place Movie" (downloadable from iTunes one song at a time or available for purchase as a whole CD). Depending on the age of the kids, you might want to just play it in the background or could even use it for a "hot potato" like game.
- Have a Wizards of Waverly Place trivia contest. You can get a lot of questions/answers from the Disney Channel site as well as the Wikipedia.
- Have the kids watch one 30 minute show that you have recorded and then ask really obscure questions about it (kind of like your own version of Scene-It). Examples of questions might include what color someone was wearing, what spell was placed, or who said a particular quote.
- Get Wizards of Waverly Place birthday party supplies. These include cups, plates, napkins, stickers, and even magic wands. You can purchase these at most party supply retailers.
- Place some gross feeling items in buckets and have the kids guess what ingredients they might be able to use for spells. Things like spaghetti or peeled grapes.
- If it is a sleepover or the party will last for more than a few hours, watch the "Wizards of Waverly Place Movie" or "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana" (a 3 episode Disney Channel cross-over also available on DVD) . Set up a movie theatre-like atmosphere and give each attendee a pretend movie ticket before they enter the "theatre."
There are so many possibilities, but these are just a few. It really is a cute show and lends itself well for a party theme.
